Falling Into Fall (and Consumerism)

My closet is already over capacity, yet every time the season changes, I somehow crave new clothes. It’s like my own little capitalist tragedy — my irrational urge to consume perfectly mirroring the ills of our times.
When I fall for something, I literally can’t think of anything else — it just hijacks my brain. So here it is: my current wishlist of the week (a.k.a. things I’m obsessing over but still too noncommittal to actually buy).
Aviator Sunglasses
This summer, Tom Ford’s aviator collection officially killed the era of narrow, tiny sunglasses — thank god — and ushered in the reign of the oversized frame.
For someone like me, who looks terrible in micro shades, this is nothing short of divine intervention.
Oversized sunglasses also give you a bit of anonymity, which feels very main character in the city avoiding emotional responsibility. But this season’s aviators hit different — they’ve quietly evolved:
The nose bridge (the part connecting the two lenses) is now fully enclosed with glass, giving a subtle ski-goggle vibe.

Speaking of tinted sunglasses — I actually picked up a pair from Jacquemus this summer. The elongated shape feels timeless and somehow works with everything, from lazy errand fits to slightly overdressed moments. For cities that don’t get California-level sunlight, the yellow tint is honestly perfect — it filters just enough light without turning the world pitch-black. And personally, I get a bit claustrophobic (like, visually anxious?) when lenses are too dark, so these are the ideal in-between: bright, soft, and a little bit retro.
Jumpers / Pullovers
Finding the perfect sweater — that slightly oversized, Parisian-feeling, effortlessly chic pullover that’s cozy but never bulky — feels like a lifelong mission.
The right width, length, texture (somewhere between crisp and slouchy), color, and fit… it’s basically a philosophical quest. Maybe that sweater is just an idea — a Platonic form. Until then, I’ll keep searching, one return label at a time.
Loafers
When I was younger, I imagined that grown-up me would be strutting around in pointy Manolos like a “Sex and the City” extra.
Reality: I’m a perpetually late 20s Seoul girl who walks everywhere and therefore only wears flats.
So yes — a chic, versatile loafer that pairs with both jeans and “I tried” outfits is now the symbol of my evolved career-woman dream. (Honestly, it’s shocking I don’t already own one — but self-justification is a love language.)

— the cleanest lines ever, basically a perfect dupe for The Row Canal. The deep burgundy tone gives a vintage touch that works with everything.
Arket | Lacquered Leather Loafers
— so sleek, it’s criminal. Honestly, if the quality holds up, there’s no need to drop $$$ on The Row. Still, at this price point, maybe waiting for a Lemaire sale isn’t the worst idea.
Wool Long Sleeve
A thin, hip-length wool long sleeve is the winter essential. Light but warm, elegant but unfussy — it adds a subtle yet powerful layer to any outfit (especially peeking out under knits or jackets).
COS, Arket, and Massimo Dutti release versions of this every year, and they’re absolutely worth collecting. The price isn’t exactly low, and they are often sold out if on sale, but they’re timeless and genuinely worth every $.

Maybe it’s irrational, maybe it’s capitalism, maybe it’s just the human urge to reinvent ourselves every season. Either way, fall is here — and I really need to stay alert before I unconsciously slip into another “accidental” shopping spree.
